Annual Church Conference

Date: Wednesday, October 16, 2019
Time: 6:00 PM -
Location: Hayward United Methodist Church

By definition, the charge conference is the basic governing body of each United Methodist local church and is composed of all members of the church council. All members of the charge conference must be members of the local church. The charge conference must meet at least once per year. The charge conference directs the work of the church and gives general oversight to the church council, reviews and evaluates the mission and ministry of the church, sets salaries for the pastor and staff, elects the members of the church council, and recommends candidates for ordained ministry.

Technically, we have a Church Conference instead of a Charge Conference. The difference is that all are welcome to attend (members, friends, or visitors), not just members of the local church. However, only church members can vote on the items requiring a vote. The conference is led by someone representing the Wisconsin annual conference.

The focus of this time of conferencing is to celebrate the life and ministry of HUMC over the past year as we prepare for the coming year.  The following will be included in this year’s conference:

Reports to celebrate the ministry of HUMC:

      Lay Leader

      Witness and Growth

      Pastor’s Report

      Trustee’s Report

      Membership Audit

      Financial Report

   Election of Lay Leadership

   Pastoral Support

   Recommendation of Lay Speakers
